Stateless musicians create music without borders
//
TootArd are from the Syrian Golan Heights, occupied by Israel since 1967. They are stateless, with no official citizenship, and have to travel with a special document, a "laissez passer". Their music is just as oblivious to official borders, a hybrid of psychedelia, reggae, funk and North African Arabic music. Rather than a militant anger, they adopt a more positive, slightly hippie-ish attitude: their philosophy is to win over sympathy with touching poetry and catchy melody. It works pretty well!
